Dear Masters Swimmer

The Eurpean Masters Championships in Eindhoven were a huge success and milestone for Masters Swimming at SAS. Under the flag of SAS, the team achieved 2 European Records (in relays), various European Champions and many medals and certificates.

The team in Eindhoven was built of 20 athletes between 26 and 64 years of age. As a team, SAS ranked on a fantastic 5. place at the European Championship, winning 10 gold, 8 silver and 8 bronce medals.

Team responsible Jacqueline van Westendorp proofed as an ideal on-site representative for Swiss Swimming and for SAS – thanks to Jacqueline we experienced a wonderful outing and delicious meal with many Swiss athletes in a local restaurant near Eindhoven.

The FSN system regarding secondary licenses worked well, both for Swiss Swimming and for SAS. SAS gained valuable knowledge in Eindhoven and defined, with this competition as a reference, the future registration guidelines as following:

Registration guidelines (SAS policy):

1. Prior to the championships declared relay setups will be – as far as possible – respected.

2. International competitiveness. (AGE & SPEED)

3. Each teammember shall get the possibility to swim – at least once, and as far as possible – a relay.

4. gRelays will be executed according to planning. On-site adjustments of relay setups are not carried out. Exceptions are sickness or injury.

5. Decision-making persons are:
- Team captain (SAS or FSN), or
- SAS board member(s), or
- an assigned SAS teammember
